To further the effort to reduce hunger and poverty in our community, and to encourage others to join the effort, every year the Hunger and Poverty Prevention Partnership:
- awards cash grants to Portage County organizations that work to reduce hunger and poverty in Portage County.
- awards two $500 scholarships to high school seniors who exemplify the same commitment to community service.
- presents the Patrick J Cassidy Memorial Award to recognize individuals and/or organizations that have demonstrated the same commitment to the community through their efforts to reduce hunger and poverty in Portage County
The grants and Cassidy Award are presented at the Empty Bowls event each year.
